‘Indoor Hurling & Camogie’ Heat 3: OMAGH
Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain continued their series of games for 2020, when the first of two Omagh-based ‘Indoor Hurling and Camogie’ Heats took place in Omagh Station Centre.
The Camogie section contained four very evenly matched teams. The talented girls from All Saints’ P.S. Tattysallagh and Drumduff P.S. came up just short in their admirable bids to qualify. However, the girls from St. Ronan’s P.S. Recarson (with 2 wins) and Our Lady of Lourdes P.S. Greencastle (3 wins from 3) did just about enough to see-off their skilled opponents. Recarson and Greencastle played wonderful camogie to book deserved places in the Indoor Camogie County Final next week. Well done, girls!
Seven school teams competed in a drama-packed Hurling competition. The lads from Tattysallagh, Drumduff and St. Mary’s P.S. Altamuskin competed bravely in the competition but fell just short despite their valiant efforts. Gaelscoil na gCrann and Greencastle’s Our Lady of Lourdes P.S. made the semi’s, but they were pipped by St. Lawrence’s P.S. Fintona and St. Ronan’s P.S. Recarson (both schools unbeaten) who secure themselves a place in the Tyrone Indoor Hurling Co. Final. Fintona and Recarson (2019 defending champions) now await the qualifying schools from further heats to be held in Omagh, Clonoe and Dungannon this week.
A huge word of thanks the Station Centre staff who had everything prepared for us as usual. Thanks, also, to Ethan McNally & Colm Dillon for officiating so expertly, and Pat McGivern for coordinating events on the day.
We wish all qualifiers the very best of luck for the Co. finals.
Ádh mór oraibh!
