Allianz Tyrone Indoor Camogie Finals Day
The Station Centre in Omagh hosted the annual Allianz Camogie Indoor finals for primary schools today and five schools who qualified from their heats came with high expectations of success. Kingsisland Primary School, Roan St. Patrick's PS Eglish, St. Patrick's PS Dungannon, St. Colmcille's PS Carrickmore and Our Lady of Lourdes PS Greencastle all played each other in a league format with the top four qualifying for the semi finals. The games were all very competetive and closely fought and it took the last game of the league to decide who qualified for the semi finals.
In the first of the semi finals Eglish and Dungannon played a very closely fought battle with the Eglish girls coming out narrowly on top. Carrickmore overcame Greencastle is a similarly hard fought win and set up the final against Eglish.
The final did not disappoint. Carrickmore took a two goal lead before Eglish rushed back into the game with a goal of their own. In the end Carrickmore held on for a famous victory.
Well done to all the schools involved for a wonderful day of skilful competitive camogie. Congratulations to our runners up Eglish who all received a silver medal and our County Indoor Champions St. Colmcille's Carrickmore who were proud recipients of Tyrone County Medals and the winners Cup.
A special word of thanks to County Camogs Aine Cunningham and Mollie O'Hanlon who were on hand to present the medals and Cup, Hurling Development Officers Damhlaic Rushe and Colm Dillon who refereed the games and Seamus McCreesh and Stephen Mone from Cuman na mBunscol Tir Eoghain.
