Tyrone Allianz CnmB Finals - Group F

16th May 2024

Edendork Primary School held the Tyrone Cumann na mBunscol Group F Gaelic Boys and Girls Football sections, as well as a Rounders tournament. The tournaments were held in the St. Malachy’s Edendork GAC complex and the five schools involved were:

· St. John’s P.S. Moy

· St. Patrick’s P.S. Annaghmore

· St. Patrick’s P.S. Dungannon

· St. Patrick’s P.S. Mullinahoe

·  Edendork P.S.

All three competitions ran alongside each other with all the children involved having a brilliant day.

The girls football section was very tight with some great action from each of the schools. The two unbeaten schools Ardboe and Dungannon met in a game which effectively decided who the Group F winners would be this Year. The Dungannon girls started well but the Ardboe defence, and some great goalkeeping kept them out. Ardboe opened the scoring with a great goal when a long ball from defence opened up a goal scoring chance that the Loughshore girls converted. Both teams had some great players full of skill and athleticism. Eventually it was the Ardboe girls’ ability to take their scoring chances that saw them through to be crowned Section F winners.

The boy’s section was very competitive with no team managing to go through the day unbeaten. There was very little between them and in passages they all looked like coming out on top. Each school played four games and at the end of the action 3 teams were on equal points. Score difference and head-to-head results were used to separate the teams and St John’s of the Moy came out as Section F winners, with St Patrick’s Mullinahoe Ardboe narrow runners up. Thanks to Martin Devlin and Conor for refereeing both sections in the football.

On the top part of the pitch Deirdre Bowe, Sinead Shields, Lia Dunne and Anne Mc Alinden ran off the Rounders Tournament. The schools involved enjoyed the good weather which helped make the day so enjoyable. They batted and ran themselves into the ground to try and find a winner. It took until the very last game ended before we were able to find out that St John’s P.S. Moy emerged as overall winners just pipping the Dungannon St Patrick's Girls to the title.
