Thady Turbett R.I.P.
It was with great sorrow and regret that we learned of the great man’s passing last evening.
Thady was a past pupil of the original old Culmore school - which is now St. Conor’s P.S. Omagh.
He was an extraordinary goalkeeper whose immense talent won Omagh St. Enda’s & Tyrone many championships.
Thady had a tremendous interest in youth football and he inspired many players to achieve their maximum.
In 1993, following the passing of another Tyrone legend, Iggy Jones R.I.P, Thady was the perfect fit to follow Iggy in becoming Honorary President of Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain.
We named a Cup in his honour - competed for by larger schools in the county. How appropriate is it, then, that the present holders of The Thady Turbett Cup are St. Conor’s P.S. Omagh!
Our sincere condolences to the Turbett family at this sad time.
