St. Mary’s Primary School Cabragh’s whole school community have been working together in a fundraising Mizen2Malin head cycle which will see three members of staff and three parents take on a four-day cycle of 400miles from the most southerly point of Ireland, Mizen Head, to the most Northerly point Malin Head.
Seamus McCreesh, Principal, will be joined by Primary 6 teacher Brian McKenna and Building Supervisor Damian Hamill, as well as parents Ciaran McElvogue, Ciaran Nugent and former Tyrone great Kevin Hughes as they cycle the length of Ireland from 25th May to 28th May.
Local businesses have rowed-in behind the venture and sponsorship on the newly designed jersey raised £35,000 which will go towards school funds. Main sponsor Eugene O’Neill from O’Neill Building Works recently presented the cyclist with the new custom designed jerseys.
The school children are also taking part and are participating in a fun cycle on Sunday 21st leaving the school at 1pm. A group of local cyclists are leaving the school on Sunday 28th and cycling 100 miles to meet the group for the final run into Malin Head.
