‘Indoor Hurling & Camogie’ Heat 4: Loughview
Attention switched to Dungannon’s superb Loughview Centre for Heat 4 and the final instalment of our 2018 ‘Indoor Hurling & Camogie’ competition. Five schools did battle in a round-robin series of matches in the Camogie.
Participating schools included St. Patrick’s P.S. Dungannon, St. Patrick’s P.S. Mullinahoe, Ardboe, and St. Patrick’s P.S. Donaghmore. These 3 schools played bravely but, despite giving their all, narrowly missed-out on qualifying for the Co. Final in Omagh. Instead, 2 schools seemed to be just a little bit stronger on the day: Mrs. McAlinden’s Edendork P.S. and Roan P.S. Eglish. Congratulations to both schools on making the county final. The high level of skill displayed by all 5 schools was a joy to behold. Well done!
Meanwhile, the Hurling competition saw 8 schools lock horns in 2 interesting sections of 4. In Section ‘A’ Holy Family P.S. Aughamullan had hard luck when they missed-out on a semi-final berth by one solitary goal. Dungannon also had tough luck when just a point cost them their place. Advancing to the semi-finals were Mrs. Moylan’s Blessed Patrick O Loughran P.S. Castlecaulfield (via a close play-off) and Master Mone’s unbeaten Roan P.S. Eglish.
Section ‘B’ was equally close. The two St. Patrick’s P.S. from Mullinahoe and Donaghmore fought valiantly but, unfortunately, didn’t do quite enough to qualify. Instead, it was Master McCreesh’s St. Mary’s P.S. Cabragh and an unbeaten Edendork P.S. who made the semi’s.
After two intriguing semi-finals, it was Mrs. Moylan’s Castlecaulfield P.S. and Master Mone’s Roan P.S. (with a 100% win record) who advanced to the Co. Hurling Final.
