BOYS INDOOR FOOTBALL HEAT -OMAGH ST.ENDAS
ALLIANZ CUMANN Na mBUNSCOL
The heats of the annual Allianz Cumann na mBunscol 5-a-side “Boys’ Indoor Gaelic Football” for primary schools was held today in Omagh’s St.Enda’s Hall . A total of 6 local schools entered teams for this qualifying heat, which produced a tremendously high level of skill and sportsmanship from all involved.
Tuesday 25th February, saw schools compete for a coveted place in the Tyrone Final. Great credit must go to St.Joesph’s PSDrumquin and St Caireall's PS Aghyaran, all of whom battled bravely in competition, but just fell short of a Semi-final berth despite their valiant efforts.
The scene was now set for the semi-finals with a strong team from St.Teresa’s Loughmacrory PS powering past a determine Christ the King PS Team.
The second semi-final was also keenly contested. With St.Patricks PS, Eskra outlasting All Saints PS,Tattysallagh in a tremendous battle.
The level of expectation and anticipation was high for the final. The game itself lived up to all pre-match expectations. Both teams played some tremendous football and displayed a full-blooded effort with very little separating the sides after normal time and extra time.
It took a Golden Goal by the Loughmacrory boys to finally put an end to pulsating game. Heartbreak for St. Patrick’s PS, Eskra but they can be very proud of their efforts on the day.
St.Teresa’s Loughmacrory PS now proceed to the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Tyrone Indoor Football Boys’ Final to be held in Cookstown. We congratulate these talented Loughmacroryboys and wish them well in the Tyrone Finals.
Our thanks to top Tyrone referee, Dermott Moxon, for his expert officiating, and to Omagh St.Enda’s for the use of their excellent facilities.
