Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Outdoor Hurling Tyrone Co. Final 2023
Hurling teams from around Tyrone competed in the outdoor Hurling tournament in Eire Óg pitch, Carrickmore on 24th May.
Gaelscoil Aodha Rua, Dungannon, St Colmcille’s PS, Carrickmore (A team), St. John’s P.S. Kingsisland and St Lawrence’s PS, Fintona were in Section A while St Colmcille’s PS B team, St. Patrick’s P.S. Roan, Eglish and St Ronan’s PS, Recarson were in Section B.
St Colmcille’s PS, Carrickmore (A team) topped Section ‘A’ with a perfect win record to book a semi-final berth against the Section ‘B’ runners-up: St. Patrick’s P.S. Roan, Eglish. Roan fought heroically but succumbed to a powerful Carrickmore team who booked their place in the final.
The second semi-final saw the Section ‘B’ winners, St. Colmcille’s P.S. Carrickmore, (B Team) take on the Section ‘A’ runners-up John’s P.S. Kingsisland. The Carmen boys were narrowly beaten by a very talented St John’s team who secured their place in the final.
The scene was set for the County Final between John’s P.S. Kingsisland and St Colmcille’s PS, Carrickmore. Both teams served up an absolute classic. It was an epic match, brimming with top rate hurling. Play ebbed and flowed with chances falling to both sides. As the full-time whistle sounded, the score was five points to three in favour of the Carmen boys who retained the coveted title and their gold medals, before being duly crowned worthy Allianz Cumann na mBunscol ‘Outdoor Hurling’ Tyrone Champions 2023!
